What Happens After You Order a Thermomix® TM7? Your First Week Explained

There is a temptation when a new TM7 arrives to start exploring every mode, function and accessory. I don't recommend it.

Your Thermomix is going to live in your kitchen for years. You have plenty of time to discover everything it can do. Instead, I would use your first week to answer a much more useful question: Where can this make a difference in the way I actually cook and eat?

Before your TM7 even arrives, open Cookidoo® and choose one or two recipes for each of your first few days. Add them to your week so they appear directly on your Thermomix display when you need them. Less searching. Less overwhelm. More cooking.

The Basic Cookbook is also a great place to start because it focuses on simple recipes that help you become familiar with your Thermomix.

How long does a Thermomix® TM7 take to arrive?

Thermomix® USA currently says delivery typically takes 2–3 business days. Delivery times can vary depending on location, order volume, weather, and carrier conditions.

Once your TM7 ships, you should receive tracking information so you can follow its journey to your door. This is also the time when your consultant reaches out and offers a welcome service if you want it.

If you haven't ordered yet, I recommend checking my Current Thermomix® USA Offers & Promotions page first. Offers and purchase options can change, so I keep them updated there rather than listing temporary promotions in this article.

What comes with the Thermomix® TM7?

Your TM7 comes with the main accessories you need to start cooking, including the mixing bowl, mixing knife, mixing bowl lid, Varoma®, simmering basket, butterfly whisk and spatula.

New TM7 customers currently also receive a three-month Cookidoo® trial, giving you access to more than 100,000 guided recipes from around the world. Your TM7 also comes with a two-year limited manufacturer's warranty. And then comes the fun part: actually cooking with it.

Day 1: Set it up and get comfortable

Unpack your TM7, give it a permanent place on your counter if possible and get it connected. Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in to Cookidoo® using the same email address you used when purchasing your Thermomix. This gives you access to Guided Cooking and lets the recipes you've planned in Cookidoo appear on your TM7.

Spend a little time getting familiar with the mixing bowl, lid, spatula, simmering basket, and Varoma. And this is also where I come in as your consultant.

When you purchase through me, I offer a complimentary Welcome Service. I can help you get set up, answer your first questions, and choose recipes based on food you actually like to cook and eat.

If you'd rather set everything up yourself, Thermomix also has a helpful TM7 setup video. Then cook something. Your first recipe doesn't need to be impressive. In fact, I deliberately like starting with simple recipes that demonstrate some of the basic functions.

Try a broccoli salad, fresh lemonade, pancakes, or pizza dough.

Use the Pre-clean mode afterwards and enjoy having the TM7 do much of the cleanup too.

You'll already experience chopping, weighing, mixing or kneading without trying to learn everything at once. The goal of Day 1 isn't to master your TM7. It's to stop looking at it as a new device and start using it as part of your kitchen.

Start bookmarking recipes you like so you can begin building your own personal collections.

Day 2: Make something easy

Choose something familiar.

A soup. A pasta sauce. A smoothie. A dip. Something you already understand so you can focus on becoming comfortable with the TM7 rather than worrying about an unfamiliar recipe. A few easy starting ideas are:

a simple tomato soup
pasta with sun-dried tomatoes

chicken pesto pasta
homemade marinara for pasta or pizza

This is also a good day to notice something that can be difficult to understand until you've experienced it: You don't have to stand over your Thermomix for every step. There are plenty of times when the TM7 can be chopping, mixing, stirring or cooking while you're doing something else.

That was one of the things that changed cooking for me.

Day 3: Let Guided Cooking guide you

Now choose a complete recipe from Cookidoo® and add it to your week. Take a look at your shopping list and see how everything is connected, from planning your meal and buying the ingredients to having the recipe ready on your Thermomix when it's time to cook.

Then follow the recipe from beginning to end. Guided Cooking takes you through the recipe step by step on the TM7 display, including ingredients, quantities, time, temperature and speed.

This is where you start to experience how Cookidoo® and your Thermomix work together, not only for cooking a recipe, but for planning what you're going to eat and making everyday cooking easier.

It's also where my description of Thermomix as a personal-chef-style kitchen companion starts making more sense. You're still cooking, but you don't have to keep jumping between a recipe, a scale, several appliances, timers and the stove. For your first complete meal, you could try:

Pea Soup, Lemon Salmon, Broccoli & Potatoes

Lemon Rosemary Chicken & Rice

Asian Rice & Vegetable Sauté

Risotto

These types of recipes also start showing you something important: your TM7 isn't only for preparing one component of dinner.

It can help you think differently about preparing the whole meal.

Day 4: Make something you normally buy

This is one of my favorite ways to use Thermomix.

Look in your refrigerator or pantry and fi

nd something you routinely buy ready-made. Could you make it instead?

Bread dough. Hummus. Salad dressing. A sauce. A dip. Nut butter. Soup. A spread.

This doesn't have to become an enormous project. The everyday things are often where Thermomix becomes most useful.

For example, try:

Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls

Mayonnaise

Guacamole

Hummus

You could make a quick dessert:

Lava Cakes

For me, this is part of what I mean when I say: In Homemade We Trust. Making more food from scratch gives you more control over the ingredients you use, lets you experiment with flavors and can change where your food budget goes over time.

Day 5: Make a real dinner

Now forget that you own an exciting new kitchen device.

It's a weekday.

You're hungry.

What would you normally make for dinner?

This is the test I find much more interesting than seeing how many functions the TM7 has.

Can it help with the food you actually eat?

Try something that feels like a real dinner in your household, not a Thermomix demonstration.

For example:

Marry Me Chicken Pasta

Butter Chicken

Tinga De Pollo

Or choose a completely different recipe that looks like something your household would actually enjoy. This is when you begin discovering what your Thermomix is going to be used for.

And that will look different for every household.

The weekend: Have some fun with it

You've spent the week learning. Now explore.

Search Cookidoo® for a cuisine you love. Save recipes you'd like to try. Search for an ingredient sitting in your refrigerator. Bake bread. Make dessert. Try something you've never cooked before.

You could even make five-minute frozen fruit ice cream:

Fruit Ice Cream

Lava cakes

Banana Nice Cream

Or tackle a bread you might previously have bought:

Tangzhong Milk Bread

Portuguese Bread (Pão de Água)

Banana Bread

One of the things I've loved about owning a Thermomix for more than 10 years is that it hasn't only made familiar foods easier for me to prepare. It has encouraged me to try foods, cuisines and techniques I might otherwise never have attempted.

You don't have to become more complicated in the kitchen. You can become more curious.

What should I know by the end of my first week?

Not everything.

Please don't make that the goal. By the end of your first week, I'd much rather you have discovered two or three things that make you think, “Oh. I'm going to use this all the time.”

Maybe it's making soup without standing over a pot. Maybe it's fresh bread dough. Maybe it's making sauces and dressings instead of buying them. Maybe it's Guided Cooking. Maybe it's preparing part of dinner while you're doing something else. Once those things become normal, you can keep exploring.

That's how Thermomix became part of my kitchen too. Not because I learned every function at once, but because I kept finding more things I could do with it.

And where does your Thermomix® Consultant fit into all of this?

For me, being your consultant doesn't end when your TM7 arrives.

Actually, that's when one of my favorite parts begins. I want to help you use the Thermomix you bought.

That can mean helping you set it up, doing your Welcome Service, recommending recipes based on the way you eat, answering a quick question by text, helping you find a function or simply giving you ideas when you're staring at your refrigerator wondering what to make.

It can also mean showing you how to get much more out of Cookidoo®: how to search recipes from different countries and in different languages, find recipes based on ingredients you already have in your fridge, filter recipes by the amount of time you have, change portion sizes, add recipes to your weekly planner and access your shopping list right from your phone.

Some customers want lots of help in the beginning. Others prefer to explore independently and contact me when they need something. Both work for me.

I'm an introvert myself. You don't need another appointment in your calendar every time you have a Thermomix question. We can text or email too. My goal is simple: I want you to enjoy your Thermomix and get the most out of it.
